MEET SANJIT K

Reader . Writer. Traveller. Storyteller. Occasional Troublemaker.

Before making Ottawa home, my life was anchored in Nairobi and Mombasa. For two decades, I balanced running an educational business with raising three sons as a single parent, navigating life alongside a wonderfully unpredictable cast of characters. I’ve launched businesses that thrived, and the ones that fell short taught me even more.

Today, I turn a lifetime of migration, motherhood, enterprise, and reinvention into memoir, fiction, essays, and observations.

Sanjit K Ink is a space to share these works in progress - stories drawn from different chapters, countries, and versions of myself, alongside the occasional thought that refuses to behave. It’s also where you can follow my path toward publication.

Pull up a chair and join the conversation. Explore the Writing, leave a comment on the Journal, or share your own thoughts. I’d love to hear your perspective.

And if my stories spark a bit of wanderlust, let’s turn it into a journey. As a Fora Travel Advisor, I craft custom itineraries for everything from milestone escapes to solo adventures. Head over to Travel or reach out via Contact to plan your next escape.

"Some projects begin with a meticulous blueprint. Others simply take root and refuse to leave you alone until they are on the page. Right now, I happen to be working on both."

A Memoir in Progress

A candid, unfiltered account of migration, single parenthood, enterprise, and twenty years spent building an education business in Canada.

This project explores what it really takes to start over in a new country while raising three sons on your own. It is a story of grit, practical wisdom, and resilience - capturing the colorful cast of characters, late-night reckonings, absurd triumphs and bruises that shape a life built from scratch.

Fiction & Essays

Short fiction, personal essays, and cultural observations anchored in Kenya and Canada.

These pieces examine the intersection of memory, displacement, family, and reinvention. They trace how ordinary lives continue to unfold against the backdrop of major historical shifts, exploring the humor, tension, and quiet beauty found in navigating multiple cultures and identities.
